By the time renewal season arrives, most employers have a good understanding of where healthcare dollars are being spent.

Claims data can identify rising specialty pharmacy costs, unnecessary emergency room utilization, high-cost imaging, or significant variation in where employees receive care.

The challenge isn't finding the data. The challenge is helping employees make different decisions the next time they need care.

That's the same roadmap we talked about last week. This is where it starts to point somewhere specific: advocacy and navigation programs.

Rather than simply handing employees a report or a transparency tool, advocacy services translate information into action. They guide employees toward the right providers, explain their options, answer questions before care is received, and help people navigate an increasingly complex system with more confidence.

Paired with claims and utilization data, these programs become sharper and more targeted. If renewal data shows rising ER visits, advocacy can help employees understand when urgent care or virtual care is the better call. If imaging or outpatient procedures are driving costs, navigation services can point employees toward high value providers while helping them weigh both quality and price.

This is where data begins to influence behavior.

For advisors, this is the difference between presenting a claims report and building a strategy around it. Anyone can hand a client a spreadsheet. The advisors delivering real value are the ones connecting the trends in that spreadsheet to a specific advocacy or navigation program built for that employer's population, not a generic one size fits all offering.

The goal was never to give employees more information. It's to give them the right guidance, at the right moment, so they can make better decisions, and so the plan performs better because of it.

Data shows you where the problem is.

Advocacy is what actually changes what happens next!
